Va, Pensiero .. (히브리 노예들의 합창) '나부코(Nabucco)'는 구약성서에 나오는 바빌로니아의 왕 느부가넷살 2세를 말한다. 그가 예루살렘을 정복하여 유대인들을 굴복시키고, 그와 그의 두 딸과 유대인들과 둘째딸의 유대인 애인 사이에서 일어나는 얘기를 다루고 있는데 .. "히브리 노예들의 합창(Va, Pensiero)"은 유대인들이 유프라테스강변에서 노역하면서 부르는 합창곡인데 옛 예루살렘을 그리워하는 내용이다.
